The Neills and The Hollands

WHERE ARE MY FAMILY FROM?

THE HOLLAND FAMILY.

The Hollands come from primarily,England, with a hint of Scotland and Ireland. Willian Holland came to New Zealand in 1846, on the ship, Thomas Lowry. He was a Solider in the English 85th Rutlandshire Regiment. He married His First Wife, Amelia Weller, in New Zealand and they Had 3 children together. When Amelia unfortunetly passed, He married a Widower with Five children. Her name was Ellen Enright. Together, they had 6 more children and started a Farm in Waiuku. Stephen Henry Maddens with His wife Mary Ann Squires came out from Middlesex, England,(They ended up in Wellington.) in the year 1909, on the ship Tainui. They had 4 children already and when they got to Wellington They had 3 more kids.

Traditions that the Hollands passed down through the generations

THE NEILL FAMILY.

The Neills come from primarily, Scotland and England.

Richard Cock Senior (1817-1885) was a crewman on the boat Reigna. (which was wrecked on the Kawaroa Reef in 1841) He became a signalman at the station on Mt Elliot. (4 chairs from the wreck Reigna were recovered and placed in front of Taranaki club and are bearing the words: Richard Cock, Reigna, 1841). He Earned A gold medal because of it(Which had "Presented to Mr R.Neill for saving a life" engraved on it). The medal was presentec to him on the 29th of October 1994. His son, Richard Cock Jr (1851-1936) Was a successful businessman and mayor of New Plymouth for 3 years. He ran A successful wine and spirit store with his son for a number of years.
